It's A Great Honor For The Whole St. Louis Community!
The Lindbergh High School (LHS) Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band, one of 15 bands chosen to participate in the 2011 Tournament of Roses Parade, was selected from hundreds of high school bands throughout the United States and abroad.
As it
marches the 5 miles down Pasadena’s famed Colorado Boulevard, the band will be representing the St. Louis community.
It is the dream of every band in America to represent its community in the Rose Parade. LHS has an amazing group of students and have had tremendous support from their
parents, school administrators, and community in earning this invitation.
The parent band booster organization (the Bandstanders) and community support will continue to be critical as the band launches its fundraising efforts this fall. With a band numbering more than 200 students, chaperones, band staff, equipment transportation, and instrument and uniform repairs, the cost of the 2010-11 marching season will approach $400,000.00 to accommodate participation in the parade. The trip will be entirely financed by donations from parents, the Banstanders parent organization, corporate sponsors, and the community. No taxpayer dollars will be used.
We know it’s a big challenge, but participation in the Rose Bowl Parade goes beyond just the students involved. It’s a point of
pride for our entire area – and we have no doubt that the people of St. Louis
will make this dream a reality. With this exciting opportunity comes the need for additional funds. Your help in
sponsoring our Tournament of Roses Parade experience would be gratefully appreciated!
